Within the program of Seminiamo Arte IV edition organized by MuBAq – Museum of Children L’Aquila with the coordination by Lea Contestabile and Antonio Gasbarrini and under the Patronage of the Municipality of L’Aquila is presented the collective exhibition Riding a broomstick. Fairy tale, myth, storytelling, with a title inspired by the tales collection Riding a broomstick (published on 1971) by the art historian Ernst H. Gombrich; through the topic fairy tale-myth-storytelling, the exhibition allows a transversal cross of different aspects of the human life, giving pedagogical information which are fundamental for the existence rules.
The fairy tale, the dream, the mirror, the myth, the game, the childhood, the memory, the storytelling are also the “keywords” that have led 18 international artists in the interpretation of this
wide argument, holding by hands the spectators of different ages in a trip – first of all – introspective. The fairy tale is also an abstraction exercise from the cliché, from the danger represented by a thick way of thinking, indoctrinated and foreseeable that implies a not predictable happy ending.
The B&N photographies by Massimiliano Camellini, belonging to the project The laboratory obsession, from science to dream, included in the collective exhibition, lead us from myth to creation, with an abnormal and horrific approach: in the photographic travel inside the laboratories of the SFX artists of cinema, where artists-scientists are compelled to re-create the human life from lifeless stuff, and where we can find the obsession which, since the dawn of time, stays with the mankind evolution.
As an imaginary orchestral sight, Riding a broomstick. Fairy tale, myth, storytelling transforms the first floor of the ex-nursery school in L’Aquila in an “enchanted” place, and for this reason evanescent, for adults and children.
